Parts of the Bonsa Tyre Factory machines have been stolen by thieves in Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana.
This was revealed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Benjamin Kesse during his visit to the Bonsa Tyre Company Limited (BTCL), a company that was once vibrant but sadly non-functional for a number of decades now.
With well-known brands of rubber products, from various sizes of tyres to tubes, the factory, in the 1990s saw heavy investment for refurbishment to bring it back to life, but that did not work and new equipment has been left to rot.
The tyre factory has now been taken over by weeds and has become a den of reptiles which some bad nuts are taking advantage of to steal some parts of machines at the factory.
Mr Benjamin Kesse speaking to the media was very disappointed with his discovery at the factory and indicated that the community of Bonsa should be involved in finding a solution to the menace.
He tasked the security and the people living around the company to be vigilant and make sure an end is brought to the theft.
