There should be an electoral college In the appointment of EC chairperson – NDC communicator

There should be an electoral college In the appointment of EC chairperson – NDC communicator

The appointment of Electoral Commission’s Chairperson is done by the President through the mandate given in the 1992 Constitution.

A Communications team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ningo-Prampam Constituency, Mr. Selorm Avedetsi in a panel discussion on Plan B Fm’s ‘Nkosuonsem’ show hosted by Obidehyie Kofi Sekyi, said the posture and behavior of the EC Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa shows clearly that she is not fully prepared and ready for the 2024 general elections.

“The appointment of leaders to some higher class Independent institutions must be done through electoral college, most especially the appointment of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission” he indicated.

This came after the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa admonished political parties to accept the outcome of the elections, which will be held in December, in good faith.

According to her, the acceptance of the electoral results by the political parties will play a crucial role in preventing potential for violence from disgruntled party members and their supporters.

The Communicator again stated that, if one side of two teams playing a football match chooses a referee doesn’t make him or her independent so he thinks the right thing must be done.
