Member of Parliament for Tema Central Constituency, Yves Nii Nortey in an interview on  Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ todayDecember 29, 2021 said the he is soo much passionate about helping brilliant but poor student in his constituency.

He indicated that to be able to access the funds for the project is not very easy but he is doing his best for his people

“I am also very much interested in youth entrepreneurship that is why I gave out the vehicle to the youth to be worked with and payed for and to give them the opportunity to be their own bosses but all these will take sometime to entirely take effect” he stated.
He also stated that he has not retrieve his money from star assurance but have learnt his lessons and it was as result of due diligence on his path.

He indicated that Ghanaians are not tax payers just 8%of Ghanaians do pay taxes yet all Ghanaians expect more from the Government

“There are a lot of transactions done online and there are no taxes paid, due to COVID no country wants to lend us money so if this huge some of amount is transacted online why not tax it to generate revenue for government hence the need to tax electronic transaction
The principle of E-levy is that we don’t pay direct taxes and government is taxing us indirectly”

“If we pay direct taxes there would have been no need for E-levy. I am more focus on is what the money will be used for we have not negotiated well on our natural resources. Assuming we didn’t have the natural resources then the only way out is payment of taxes
It’s basically taking money from our selves to develop our selves
So what we should do now is to police what our money will be used for.”

He stated that the Auditors general’s report is always taken in the wrong context
He said that Sometimes the report are presented before the year ends, the money that is deem missing will be used for the rest of the year and that will not be captured in the report
Meeting the whole constituent about the E-levy will be very expensive. If we meet the constituent about the Elevy is going to be very difficult but I did speak about it with some key people in my constituency and they are not more concern about paying but what their money will be used”

He promised to police the money that is what He is more concern about.

He also disclosed that he Sampled views in his constituency about the the controversial LGBTQ+
“The people of tema central are against it yet because of human right it’s a bit technical
I subscribe to us leaving them as they are “
