The Savannah Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party have refuted media reports which indicate the replacement of the Late Hon. Abu Kamara, MP for Yapei Kusowgu.
In a release sighted by Plan B FM, the Savannah Regional Executive committee disclosed that the constituency has not replaced the late Member of Parliament with his brother and therefore called for the general public to disregard all media reports that indicate otherwise.
“The attention of the Savannah Regional Executive Committee has been drawn to a purported write up that seeks to suggest that the party in the Yapei Kusowgu Constituency has replaced the Late Hon Abu Kamara as a Parliamentary Candidate for the Yapei Kusowgu Constituency. This is not the case. The party has not taken any such decision yet”, the release stated.
It continued, “For the avoidance of doubt, the decision to replace any Parliamentary Candidate lies solely in the bosom of the National Executive Committee; Not the Constituency or Region.”
The Constituency and Regional Party is scheduled to meet and deliberate on who replaces Hon Kamara in the coming days and revert back to the National Executive Committee for finalisation.
Earlier media reports indicated that the Late Member of Parliament had been replaced by his brother, to contest in the upcoming December polls on the ticket of the NPP.
The Savannah Communications Director of the NPP, Mr. Issah Mohammed, speaking to Plan B FM stressed that, replacement reports were fabricated and untrue.
According to him the executives of the party are yet to make a decision on a suitable replacement for the late honourable member.
