Minority boycotts MPs’ orientation over venue, cites political bias

Parliament Brouhaha: Stop the childish behavior and think about Ghana – Felix Kwasi jabs NPP Caucus in Parliament

The Minority in Parliament is not part of a three-day retreat for parliamentarians currently taking place in the Volta Regional capital, Ho.

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh explained in Parliament that they had to stay away from the retreat because they deem it as costly to the state.

They are following the footsteps of the president, who wants to cut costs as much as possible to help rebuild the Ghanaian economy.

He cited the example of cutting down the number of Ministers and Ministries and the decision to hold the Independence day parade at the Jubilee House as part of measures to save the country money and the need for Parliament to follow suit.

“Mr Speaker, the principle position is that we want to reduce cost. The chamber is spacious enough to host all of us, so let’s hold the retreat here just as the other time. Cost is so important,” he said.

In a post shared via social media, Parliament shared photos from the retreat currently ongoing in the Volta Region where only Majority Members of Parliament took part.
