“The dangers of self-medication and drug abuse in Ghana”

Edem Akagbo Jarvis, Metro Assistant Civic Education Assistant, has sounded the alarm on the Nyansapofie show on plan b 104.5 fm on the growing issue of self-medication and drug abuse in Ghana. “Taking unprescribed drugs is drug abuse, and it’s a common problem in our society,” he warned.

Jarvis emphasized that while medication is necessary for treating illnesses, it’s crucial to consult a medical practitioner to avoid abuse. He identified peer pressure, stress relief, and pain management as common reasons for drug abuse, which can lead to severe consequences, including kidney failure, loss of respect, and even death.

His message highlights the need for awareness and education on the dangers of self-medication and drug abuse, urging Ghanaians to prioritize their health and seek professional medical help when needed.
