Public Health advocate, Mrs Nana Agyiwaa in an interview with Nana konadu on Plan B FM’s Apomudenfie’ has explained into details what it looks like to be an adolescent.
She said that, the adolescent stage is a very unique stage in every body’s life
She defined Adolescent as a young person in the process of developing from a child into an adult.
“Puberty is when a child’s body begins to develop and change as they become an adult. Girls develop breasts and start their periods. Boys develop a deeper voice and facial hair will start to appear. … It’s completely normal for puberty to begin at any point from the ages of 8 to 14. The process can take up to 4 years.”
She also revealed that Some people can begin to develop and not be an adolescent yet vice versa.
She said that adolescence comes with a lot changes, the physical which are development of the body, the mental change which comes with a lot of Emotions etc
“ I am more concern about the Emotional changes, that is when they need their parent the most that is the stage when they can be shaped to be better versions of themselves or otherwise, parent should please draw their wards close to them, have time for them and also understand them correct them when their wrong in a right way show interest in things about them “

She also explained Peer pressure as influence from members of one’s peer group not alll peer pressures are bad we have a good peer pressure But in as much there’s peer pressure as an adolescent you have to be assertive
She concluded that the adolescent stage is critical and needs critical attention.
