Tema Youth Association demands Justice for tragic incident at Tema Kpelejoo Festival

Tema Youth Association demands Justice for tragic incident at Tema Kpelejoo Festival

The Tema Youth Association is deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic events that occurred during the Tema

Kpelejoo Festival, resulting in the loss of lives and injuries to innocent celebrants.

Speaking to Abraham Adjei Tawiah the President of Tema Youth Association on Plan B FM’s late afternoon show EBAANOSEN hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Abraham Adjei said that, the Association express their deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected by this senseless act of violence and are demanding justice for the two lost souls and the injured.

He said during the festivities of the Tema Kpelejoo Festival, a celcbration cherished by the people of Tema, officers of the navy recklessly drove into the crowd of festival celebrants, leading to chaos and panic.

Shockingly, this incident escalated further as the oflicers procceded to take the lives of two innocent individuals.
Such wanton disregard for human life and safety is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated.

Article 39 of the Constitution, which falls under the Directive Principles of State Policy, touches upon the promotion
and preservation of cultural heritage, He stated.

“The State shall activecly promote the integration of the people of Ghana and prohibit discrimination and prejudice on
the grounds of place of origin, circumstances of birth, ethnic origin, gender or religion, creed or other beliefs. Towards
the achievement of the objectives stated in clause (1) of this article, the State shall take appropriate measures, including
affirmative action programs, to give effect to these principles, particularly in the spheres of (a) recruitment and
appointmcnt to public services; and (b) the allocation of scholarships, cducational facilities and other opportunities for advancement.

This emphasizes the promotion of integration among the diverse peoples of Ghana, which inherently involves the
acknowledgment and preservation of various cultural identities within the nation which some elements in the Ghana Navy have grossly defied.
The Tema Youth Association vehementły condemns this act of brutality and calls for swift and decisive action to be
taken.

We demand a thorough and impartial national probe into the circumstances surrounding this incident to uncover
the truth and hold those responsible fully accountable for their actions.

No one should be above the law, especially those entrusted with the duty to protect and serve the pcople.

Furthermore, we urge the relevant authorities to issue sanctions where necded to ensure that justice is served and to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future.

It is imperative that the rule of law is upheld, and that the rights and safety of all citizens are respected and protected at all times.

As a community, we stand united in our quest for justice and accountability. We call upon all stakeholders, including government and we will not rest until justice is served and the memory of those lost is honoured.

The Tema Youth Association remains committed to promoting peace, unity, and justice within our community and beyond.
