Tema West Texpo Traders Disappointed In MP, MCE Over Broken Promises
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Some traders at Texpo Market in the Tema West Constituency of the Great Accra region have expressed disappointment in their Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Carlos Ahenkorah and Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Anna Adukwei Addo.

According to them the two; thus the MP and the MCE have failed in delivering promises made to the constituents especially with regard to the Texpo market which is supposed to be a well-designed market.

They mentioned insecurity, insanitary conditions among others as some of the challenges confronting traders in the market.

The issue surrounding the market was made known to the media when a pressure group, Proper Ghanaian Movement organized a media briefing to demand for answers from the MP and the MCE over the broken promises in the constituency.

The traders told the press briefing that their MP, Carlos Ahenkorah has not stepped foot at the market despite having promised to help address their concerns adding that the market has become an eyesore especially anytime it rains.

The leader of Proper Ghana Movement, Nana Fosu told the media that traders in the market have seen some of the belonging stolen due to what he described as poor security at the market. He continued that gutters in the market are filled with human waste with the situation posing as health threat to traders in the market.

According to him the traders believe Tema West Municipal Assembly headed by Anna Adukwei Addo is equally culpable over daily market toll which doesn’t inure to their benefit. The M, according to Nana Fosu has not provided employment to the youth as he promised prior to been elected as a Member of Parliament for the area.

Some of the residents around the market told the media that Carlos Ahenkorah has not tarred some of their roads which was one of his campaign messages prior to the 2020 elections.

As of the time of going to press with this story, the office of the Municipal when contacted over the allegation her and the MP, noted that she was out of town and would respond in due time. Frantic effort to reach the MP proved futile.
