The career fair, organized by the Tema West Municipal Education Directorate also gave the students the opportunity to interact with the personnel to understand what they want to do in the future and the need to take their studies seriously to climb the academic and career ladder.

In an interaction with the students, the Managing Director of Free Minds Communication, owners of Plan B FM Mr. Frederick Aniagyei admonished the students to take their studies seriously and also listen to the advice of their parents, teachers and their guardians.

He also charged them to focus on whatever they’ve set their minds to and not to be swayed by nefarious activities that could jeopardized their future.

“I would like to say that no one is your enemy but yourselves. Your ego, your lack of of focus, your jealousy, procrastination, the gaps in your knowledge, your inability to believe you deserve more and your excuses, your self- doubt and your fear. That’s the only enemy to focus on beating going forward”. He advised

Speaking on the sidelines of the program, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), for the Tema West Education Directorate, Madam Mavis Okutu explained the focus on the boy child for the program.

“Over the years, emphasis has been placed on the girl child. But now the good news is that, the girls are doing well in school, they are taking their lessons and education seriously. So, we’ve realized that we also need to shift attention to the boys so they can also improve” she explained.

She further stated that, the program begun in May 2023 to help the boys to also groom their career path so that they will be at par with the girls.

Madam Okutu also said the program will be an annual program that will tackle various aspect of the boy child to deal with issues affecting them such as drug abuse and peer pressure to enable them to be disciplined.

Some of the students said the career fair has given them confidence and helped them to know what to do and where to reach in life with education as the guide.
