A Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service Officer was arrested for photographing his ballot paper illegally during special voting in Tema West Constituency of the Greater Accra Region at the Community 2 Police Barracks polling station A.

In recent times, the act of taking pictures of ballots during voting exercise has raised concerns among election officials and the general public.

This issue was brought to light when a security guard with the Ghana Police Service was apprehended for allegedly capturing an image of his ballot paper using his mobile phone during special voting exercise on Tuesday, 2 December 2024 in Tema West of the Greater Accra Region.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the ballot paper by urging electorates not to photograph their ballots.

The Police Officer who was caught in the act was put at the counter back of the Tema Community 2 Police Barracks which his name is yet to be known by the media.
