The leadership of the Tema Police Regional Command today, Friday, December 10, 2021 met with Media representatives at a press soiree at the GPHA Junior Staff clubhouse in Tema.
The interactive engagement was to further enhance the already existing professional relationship between the two bodies towards the development of the country in the area of security.
Addressing the media on behalf of the Tema Police Regional Commander, DCOP Barima Tweneboah Sasraku II, his deputy, ACP Alhaji Saanid Adamu lauded the vital roles the two institutions play in serving the country especially residents of Tema and its environs.
He told the gathering that the Regional Commander would have loved to be present at the soiree but has to deal with equally important issues hence his absence.
ACP Alhaji Adamu particularly praised member of the inky fraternity for their role in educating and informing residents of the region on the need to help ensure that region is peaceful and orderly.
He mentioned that it is a gesture the leadership of the Police in the region is grateful for and urged the media to continue to do its part in the fight against crime. According to him the professional relationship between the police and the media in other jurisdiction was different from what exists in Tema.
Continuing he mentioned that the doors of the Tema Police Regional Command are opened to the media urging them not to hesitate to share with the Police any information relating to the Command so as to continue to have a peaceful environment. He was quick to state that the Command is appreciative of the media’s role in contributing to an atmosphere of trust, confidence and mutual respect.
Touching on the Police preparedness towards the festive, ACP Alhaji Adamu pointed that enough preparation has been done adding that the Command will deploy its men and women into the various communities to maintain the existing peaceful atmosphere just like it has always done with every festive.
Concluding he wished the journalists a ‘Merry Christmas’ and a ‘Happy New Year’ in advance.
Mrs Dzifa Tetteh, Vice Chairman for the Tema branch of Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) speaking on behalf of the Regional Chairman, Dominic Hlordzi, called for swift flow of information from the Public Relation wing of the Command adding that there had been occasions where media men and women in the region had to be informed of some happenings with the region by colleagues and superior officers outside Tema.
She pointed out that such situation when not immediately dealt with will create the impression that journalists in the region were sleeping on the job.
The Tema GJA Vice Chairman added that the media was equally appreciative of the manner in which the Command had maintain peace and order in the region stressing that it has further deepen the trust and confidence residents of the region have for the police.
Concluding, she pointed out that the media looked forward to a more collaborative effort between the two institutions in future.
Other senior police officers, Divisional Commanders, District Commanders and their Crime Officers were present at the soiree.
