The Church of Pentecost Tema Area Women’s Ministry has donated Oxygen concentration pumps and other medical equipments to the Paediatric Unit of the Tema General Hospital (TGH).
The items valued at GH¢320,000 included an oxygen concentrator, pulse oximeter among others.
Mrs Charity Kuwornu, Area leader of Tema Women’s Ministry said the donation was to support the sick children as they demonstrate the love of God as mothers.
She added that the show of love was following God’s instructions to take care of the sick and the needy.
“We realized a lot of times when people are meeting the needs of children is all about sending sweets, fruits and other things; but we felt that we needed to bring something more organic, something that will bring health and life to the people. We thought it wise that we should bring something that will enhance breathing that will relief the children for them to have constant respiration. That’s why we brought these devices to give proper health care to the children in connection with our possession the nation’s agenda where we have to also meet societal needs” she indicated
Dr. Audrey Frimpong Baafi, head of Pediatrics at the Tema General Hospital who received the items on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude to the women for the support.
She noted that the items were substantial and that it would relieve the hospital of related expenses.
She urged other organisations to emulate the gesture of the Women’s Ministry and go to the aid of the hospital in cash or kind.
“I will continue to appeal for more, there are a lot of needs that we need and the government cannot do everything. So if we get society to come in, it will be of immense help for us” she said
