The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Director, Tema Metro, Ebenezer Cudjoe has cautioned persons who live in flood-prone areas to take precautions as the rains set in.
The disaster management organization is among other things asking such persons to relocate while observing safety procedures to avert any incidents.
The Ghana Meteorological Agency has warned of possible flooding in the capital as the rainy season approaches.
In an interview with Ohene Addo on Plan B FM ‘Nkosuo Nsem’, he said his outfit will do its best to ensure that lives and properties are protected.
“We’ve met residents of these flood prone areas, so they are aware when the rains begin, they need to dash to a safe haven. Residents in high-risk areas have been warned of the possible dangers when the rains set in”
“Measures have been put in place to ensure that we don’t experience another flooding in the Tema Metropolis. We have advised people to desilt drains within their respective communities, in order to allow the free flow of water during heavy rains to minimize flooding and also move to higher grounds when the rains begin.”
