*Relocate Flood-Prone areas, there are more Rains ahead – NADMO warns*
The Tema Metro National Disaster Management Organization NADMO director who doubles as the Assembly Member of the Uhuru electoral area at Tema community 7 and its environs Hon. Ebenezer Cudjoe popularly known as SHARK has cautioned the general public, especially those living in flood-prone areas to relocate to safe places to avoid losing properties and lives because there would be more rains in the coming days.
He also warned individuals to desist from dumping refuse in drains whenever it rains.
Hon Cudjeo in a one-on-one interview with Nana Yaw Anrompah on Plan B FM’s morning NKOSUONSEM has also confirmed that illicit drugs, prostitution, and thievery is on the rise in his electoral area and explained that measures are in place to curb the illicit activities in the area.
He continued that his attention has been drawn by some residents to prostitution activities disturbing the peace of the people in the area.
“We have invited the owner of that container cubicle which has been turned into a brothel for to provide permit. The issue was discussed at the Metropolitan Security Committee MUSEC and pragmatic measures have been put in place to curb the menace, all those engaging in prostitution are mostly not Ghanaians, some are Nigerians, Togolese, Burkinabese, etc.”
Earlier some Residents in Tema Community 7 registered their displeasure on Plan B FM about the development and activities of prostitutes in the area claiming that most of these commercial sex workers are not Ghanaian indigenes but rather come from Nigeria.
The illicit sex trade is on the ascendancy in Tema Community 7 as both the young and old engage in commercial sex activities for a living.
Residents in the community are unhappy with the situation and have called on the Police and Tema Metropolitan Assembly to intervene, ” it is a single room which has been expanded with plywood to create additional 21 rooms for them, smoking of “wee” is on the rise among the prostitutes and it is worrying us”
According to them, the presence of the sex workers is hurting the youth in Community 7, as the place is flooded with prostitutes, “they all sleep during the daytime and wake up at night to engage in their prostitution activities, they show pornographic movies to disturb us, especially our children, we have reported the issue to TMA but authorities have turn deaf ears about it”.
On the Issue of stray animals in Tema township, hon. Shark hinted that the owners of the cattle have been invited to a meeting on how to prevent their animals from roaming in town anyhow to avoid arresting and auctioning.
“We have prepared a place to arrest stray animals and will be auctioned if their owners refuse to pay the finds”
