Tema: Heavy rainstorm rips off Oninku Drive Basic school

Tema: Heavy rainstorm rips off Oninku Drive Basic school
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Academic work at the Oninku Drive Basic Schools has been hampered by a fury of rainstorms in the Tema Metropolis of the Greater Accra Region.

The heavy downpour accompanied by heavy winds which occurred last week blew off a portion of the school roof.

The incident happened a few days before the reopening of the school but the situation has not been attended to by the city authorities, the structure has been abandoned, with stagnant water taking over the whole building.

Reporting from the scene on Plan B FM’s morning show ‘Nkosuo Nsem’ hosted by Obidehye Kofi Sekyi, our reporter Obiri Fentemfrem noted that, besides the roofing that is in a deplorable state, the structure of the school also gives cause to worry as some parts have experienced deep cracks and the roofing appears to be weak thereby putting the lives of the students in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, school pupils just returned from vacation and the structure is not conducive for teaching and learning.

Attempts made by our reporter to speak to the  school authorities proved futile, according to some of the teachers they are not obliged to speak or give away information to the media. An attempt to talk to the Tema Metro NADMO director about the issue was not successful.
