Tema Central tension as NDC Executives lock NHIS office — Constituency Secretary confirms

Tema Central tension as NDC Executives lock NHIS office — Constituency Secretary confirms
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Tema Metropolitan Assembly is made up of two constituencies: Tema East and Tema Central.

Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), together with some party foot soldiers, are expressing growing frustration over what they describe as unfulfilled expectations following the party’s victory in the 2024 general elections, largely driven by the promise of a 24-hour economy.

According to the party faithful, little progress has been made since the elections, with appointments remaining the main avenue for job creation. This development, they say, has left many supporters disappointed.

It is against this backdrop that some NDC executives locked the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in the Tema Metropolis after an appointment was allegedly given to an outsider.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBANOSEN programme, the Constituency Secretary of the NDC in Tema Central, Mr. Henry Davidson Ayeh, confirmed the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, February 10, 2027.

“We, the executives, locked the office to let our national party leaders know that we are disappointed. Are they telling us they cannot find anyone within the Tema East and Tema Central constituencies to take up the job?” he questioned.

Mr. Ayeh further disclosed that the party’s Greater Accra Regional Chairman has since contacted him, assuring the executives that the matter will be communicated to the party’s national leadership for the necessary action to be taken.

In conclusion, Mr. Ayeh said despite the current agitation, the party’s supporters still have hope in the implementation of the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
