Teenage Pregnancy Is Costing Lives Of Young Girls In Ghana; Parents Must Develop Interest In The Everyday Activities Of Their Wards

Naana Egyiriba Idun-Aquah, Adolescent Reproductive health Specialist at the Tema General hospital speaks on the causes and the Effect of teenage pregnancy on plan B Fm’s Apomudenfie hosted Nana Akua okontie.

She defined Teenage pregnancy as a pregnancy in a woman 19 years of age or younger and added that A woman can get pregnant if she has vaginal sex with a man at any age after she’s begun having regular monthly periods.

She said that teenage pregnancy is very common in Ghana because of lack of sex Education, poverty, lack of parental care.

She also said that teenage pregnancy is costing a lot of lives and this should ring a bell to parents to take their girl child as their best friends so they gain trust in them otherwise your girl child will conceive try to hide it from you try to abort it and next thing you loose her to Abortion which could have been prevented if you had a good relationship with her.

She went on with some education on the symptoms of pregnancy • missed or very light period , breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting, feeling light headed, fainting, weight gain,feeling tired, and swelling Abdomen, she advised teenagers take note of the above symptoms and inform their Guardian anytime they spot this kind changes and they help them take a good decision .

He concluded that the way teenage pregnancy is costing a lot lives in Ghana parent must Guard their ward that lane.
