The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union has issued a strong warning following a disturbing trend of violent attacks on its members by Police outriders.

During a recent press conference held in Tema, Union Chairman George Teye Nyaunu revealed the alarming frequency of these incidents, which have left drivers injured and their safety in jeopardy.Nyaunu highlighted a particularly severe incident where one of their drivers sustained grave injuries after being assaulted by Police outriders.

Reports indicate that these outriders have been throwing stones at tanker drivers for not yielding to their demands to stop at specific locations, endangering both their own lives and the lives of others on the road.Despite bringing these incidents to the attention of the Inspector General of Police, the union has expressed frustration over a lack of response.

Nyaunu emphasized that they have yet to receive any acknowledgment or engagement from police authorities regarding their safety concerns. My Nyaunu”We have made several attempts to discuss these issues with the Inspector General of Police, but there has been no response,” he stated. “This neglect is alarming and unacceptable.”The situation has sparked widespread concern among tanker drivers, many of whom have shared their harrowing experiences with the media.
