Takoradi Journalist In Trouble For Publishing Fake Kidnapping News

Nhyraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, a popular radio presenter with Connect FM, a Takoradi base radio station, has been arrested by the police in Western Region for publishing what the police say is fake kidnapping new.

The radio presenter according to the police was picked up after information got to the police that he had published fake news which sought to create the impression that a lady has been kidnapped by some unknown persons in the area.

The police noted that the radio presenter who is the Omanbapa morning show host of Connect FM, claimed that, a certain Stephen Kumi, a listener of the radio station,  called in to his show and claimed that, he was expecting her girlfriend, Stephanie Kimiwaa two Weeks ago, but the lady has since not appeared.

According to the radio presenter, the caller further claimed that a friend of his girlfriend called to inform him that, Stephanie has been kidnapped with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of two thousand cedis (GH¢ 2,000) before she will be released.

The police stated that Nhyraba Paa Kwesi Nhyraba went ahead to publish the story on a number of news portal and added that they arrested him for publishing a story the police investigation revealed is fake.

The radio presenter was later granted bail and is expected to make himself available should the police require him to assist them with further investigation into the alleged kidnapping story.
