A 43-year-old tailor, Isaac Kojo Ghamson, was on Monday arraigned before the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly threatening to kill a civilian employee of the Ghana Armed Forces and her children. The charge is contrary to Section 75 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).

According to the prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Lamprey, the accused threatened Ruth Anokye with death during a heated exchange at the Military Police Office in Burma Camp, Accra.

The incident stems from a prior road traffic altercation between the two. In October 2024, Anokye was driving near Garrison Basic School at Burma Camp when she slowed down at a traffic light. Ghamson, riding a motorcycle, reportedly attempted to overtake her vehicle but crashed into its left side.

The matter was initially settled amicably without police involvement.

However, tensions resurfaced when both parties later appeared before the Military Police on January 3, 2025 in an effort to formally resolve the issue.

During the meeting, witnessed by Patrick Asiedu and Grace Yankson-Ghamson allegedly became agitated and issued the threat: “I will cause your death and that of your children.”

Anokye subsequently reported the incident to the Cantonments Police Station on May 8, 2025. Ghamson was arrested, cautioned, and after investigations, formally charged with the offence of threatening death.

He pleaded not guilty in court and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢5,000 with one surety. The case, presided over by Judge Isaac Addo, has been adjourned to July 28, 2025 for further hearing.
