Tafo: Chiefs to mobilise pregnant women to demonstrate over abandoned hospital project

Tafo: Chiefs to mobilise pregnant women to demonstrate over abandoned hospital project
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The chiefs and elders of the Tafo traditional council in Kumasi, Ashanti region, have urged the NPP government to complete their abandoned hospital project as soon as possible.

According to the chiefs, it was very concerning how the project started by former President J. A Kufour was abandoned by subsequent governments despite several promises.

The disgruntled chiefs who visited the site on Tuesday expressed concern about how long the project has been left to rot in the bush.

The chiefs lamented that people continue to die due to a lack of adequate housing, particularly maternity blocks for female adults.

The Nkosouhene of Tafo, Nana Agyeman Sekyere, stated on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that demonstrations would be organised until the hospital was completed.

The chief explained that the situation is having a negative impact on people, particularly pregnant women.

“We will mobilise all pregnant women in the area, take to the streets, and demonstrate until our concerns are addressed,” he said.

“We are doing this because the project has been abandoned for 20 years. We will notify all pregnant women and demand that the facility be completed. “We will keep pressing until we get what we want,” he said emphatically.
