The charred remains of the suspect
An alleged thief, who attempted to steal a motorbike at Wassa Gromisa in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region, has been killed by a mob.
The angry mob was reported to have set the suspect ablaze, burning him beyond recognition.
DAILY GUIDE reliably gathered that the incident happened at about 2am on Sunday when the deceased accompanied by two other alleged accomplices, attempted to steal the motorbike.
“They were three but two of the suspects managed to run away when the youth in the area got wind of their purported nefarious activities and arrested the deceased,” a source noted.
According to information DAILY GUIDE gathered, there has been incessant cases of the exhumation of dead bodies of late in the farming community, so the youth in the area had formed a watchdog committee and vowed to deal ruthlessly with anyone who is seen digging a grave at their cemetery.
DAILY GUIDE learnt that on their normal patrols in the community which started at midnight on Sunday, some of the committee members saw about three guys loitering around a motorcycle repair shop.
“All of a sudden they saw the deceased enter the premises of the shop and attempted to break a chain which was used to lock most of the motorcycles sent to the shop for repair works while the other two were spying around.
“So the committee members who saw the suspects raised an alarm and called for reinforcement.
“However, two of the suspects bolted but the deceased was cornered and later burnt to death,” the source disclosed.
Some of the residents alleged that they suspect the deceased was a member of a suspected syndicate behind some robberies in the area.
