The Member of Parliament for Suame, John Darko, has been granted enquiry bail after appearing before the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with an investigation into an alleged criminal conspiracy that resulted in losses to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
In a statement issued on October 13, 2026, EOCO said the estimated losses in the case had been revised to approximately GH¢27 million, an adjustment to an earlier figure.
According to the Office, Mr Darko had been invited to assist investigators with information relevant to the ongoing probe. He reported to EOCO’s head office at exactly 12:00 noon on Tuesday and was described as respectful, cooperative and fully responsive throughout the process.
EOCO said its decision to grant him enquiry bail was based on the circumstances of the case, the applicable law and his level of cooperation with investigators.
The Office also disclosed that Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, a former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, had responded to an invitation and was cooperating with investigators.
EOCO said the investigation was progressing steadily in line with its case theory but stressed that the probe remained active.
It further emphasised that no conclusion had been reached regarding the culpability of any individual connected to the matter.
The investigation is expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy and the reported financial losses suffered by SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
