The member of parliament for North Tongu constituency, Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has told now minority leader in parliament, Hon Alexander Afenyo Markin and the New Patriotic Party to stop being hypocrite over the ruling made by speaker of parliament, Hon Alban Bagbin.

The famous member of parliament speaking on the current issue told the public that what has happened should remind politicians that they should have the country at heart and stop being hypocrite when they have the power to make good decisions for the country.

Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa speaking on Metro TV Good Ghana show hosted by Randy Abbey on Friday, 18th October, 2024 said that the speaker of parliament did not do any wrong in his ruling and said he followed precedent in parliament.

The renowned member of parliament pulled out documents to exposed the New Patriotic Party and it’s members of parliament on what they did in 2020 when a member of parliament chose to contest the last election as independent candidate.

Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa further told NPP and Hon Alexander Afenyo Markin that they should know that what goes around comes around.

He read former Speaker of parliament, Mark Oquaye’s ruling which states clearly that when a member of parliament leaves his party to join another party or chose to contest as independent candidate, he automatically vacates his or her seat as stated in article 97 (g) of the constitution.

He advised the NPP MPs to accept the ruling made by speaker of parliament and remind them that anytime they gets an opportunity to represent the country and formulate decisions for the people, they should look be young their political reach and do the right thing.

According to Ablakwa, it is NPP’s bad actions then that has caused them today.

“ They should stop the hypocrisy. We should stop the partisan politics too. Today, the speaker has used their own hand work against them. The speaker followed precedent in parliament some few years ago made by their own speaker of parliament. What goes around comes around. Everything you sow shall you reap,” Hon Ablakwa told Randy Abbey on the show.
