Steps are Being Taken To Amend Pre-Tertiary Act For A 6-Year SHS Program – Education Minister

Education Minister Dr. Yaw Adu Adutwum has disclosed that plans are far advanced to increas 3-year Senior High School. system to 6 years.

According to the minister, steps are being taken to amend pre-tertiary ACT to help the process.

Speaking at the 60th anniversary of  conference of heads of assisted second cycle schools (CHASS) in Koforidua, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum also indicated that steps are also being taken to reform Junior High Schools

“One area where we are going to cabinet for approval in parliament is making secondary education 6 years and not 3 years. It doesn’t mean we are going to add three more years to your campus; but what we are saying is this, we have a rare opportunity t amend the pre-tertiary education Act that saids that Junior high school is part of basic and effectively given our nation a 3-year secondary.” He explained
