Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Aning Jnr, General Secretary of the Shepherd to Shepherd Network Clergy of Ghana and Head Pastor of Doxa Citadel, underscored the importance of family loyalty and honour during a recent interview. Speaking on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle programme Nyansapo” Fie with hostess Nana Asabea, Rev. Aning cautioned that betraying family trust can invoke spiritual repercussions.
He emphasized that individuals who become privy to family secrets through marriage have a sacred responsibility to maintain confidentiality. Failure to do so, he warned, could result in punishment from the family’s spiritual forces.
Betraying an oath of confidentiality can lead to severe consequences, he explained. Likewise, in marriages, spiritual forces will deal with those who betray trust.
Rev. Aning urged individuals to take these warnings seriously and to avoid taking family secrets for granted, lest they face the repercussions.
Mary Bright Abelenma Coffie, a youth counsellor, fashion designer, and Alternative Dispute Resolution practitioner, echoed Rev. Aning’s sentiments. She cautioned spouses, particularly women, against sharing intimate details of their past lives with their husbands, warning that doing so could lead to betrayal.
“Betrayal has made some couples hesitant to share information with each other due to initial breaches of trust, she noted. Betrayal is dangerous and should be handled carefully, as it can affect the entire family and lead to serious consequences.
Ms. Coffie also advised against sharing intimate photos or videos with one’s s partner, as such material could be misused, either intentionally or unintentionally. She cited instances where individuals had suffered betrayal after their partners shared private content.
The warnings from Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Aning Jnr and Mary Bright Abelenma Coffie serve as a reminder of the importance of maintaining confidentiality and upholding trust within families. Betrayal can have severe consequences”not only spiritually but also emotionally and relationally.
