Sound Economic Management Will Define Ghana’s Future – Dr. Sarkodie

Economist and lecturer at the Department of Economics, University of Ghana, Dr. Adu Sarkodie has emphasized that the skillful administration of Ghana’s economy will be fundamental to its overall bearing on the next few years.

In an enlightening interaction with host, Maxwell Ohene Addo on Plan B FM’s morning show; Nkɔsoɔ Nsɛm, Dr. Sarkodie, lauded government’s consistency in sticking to its overall economic theme while energizing the domestic manufacturing front and stirring up the agricultural sector with the Planting For Food and Jobs policy.

He further disclosed that Thursday’s mid-year budget review was indicative of government’s obligation to spend on stimulus packages in order to ease the harsh realities that COVID-19 has brought but quickly affirmed that a sincere balance had to be achieved in both advancing the government’s economic  agenda  while dealing with current domestic revenue challenges.

“It is fair for government to engineer packages to ease the hardships on people, these are not great times, however, the economy needs some injections and the ordinary Ghanaian has to be attended to as well, therefore, sound economic management will drive the next phase of Ghana’s development”

Dr. Adu Owusu Sarkodie

He urged the main political contenders for the 2020 polls to prioritize the setting forth of solid economic management teams with undiluted commitment to Ghana’s fiscal wellbeing in order to accelerate the nation’s development.

The articulate academician hailed Ghana’s declining import-dependence and pressed for further expansion of local manufacturing sector.
