World-renowned evangelist and author, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, has stated that asking churches to pay taxes will result in double taxation.

The founding President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach who doubles as an economist indicated that it is ignorant people who would want the church to pay taxes.

He stated that, “…Today very ignorant people wake up and say the church should be taxed; that is an insult. From the economic point of view that is double taxation.

In Authority of this Bohyeba Afriyie interviewed Mr Geoffrey occansey a tax analyst on plan B Fm’s Ebanoosen and he stated that he does not fully agree with Rev. Lawrence because the new tax is not designed for the members of the church but for the church so there’s no way it’s double taxation.

He said that the Activities that goes on in some churches are business activities and must be taxed and also normal Stuffs like water, towel are sold outrageous prices because they claim they have added spiritual value to it so they have to pay Value Added Tax.

He concluded that the church normally helps the nation by building hospitals, schools etc. but from the look of things it has become a thing for only the orthodox churches so the other’s he thinks must be taxed.
