Some aggrieved drivers in Ashaiman accused ASHMA MCE of extortion

Some aggrieved drivers in Ashaiman accused ASHMA MCE of extortion

Some aggrieved taxi drivers in the Ashaiman Municipal Assembly have accused Mr. Albert Boakye Okyere, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), of Ashaiman Municipal Assembly (ASHMA) of extortion.

Speaking to one of the drivers Philip Koranteng on Plan B FM late afternoon show EBAANOSEN, with Ohene Kinnah, he explained that,

“We always rest at SAKASAKA park when patronage is low during the afternoon, as we were resting in the park, a certain a man in a vehicle came to the park without altering a word to us and left, after some time we saw some officials from ASHMA started writing our car registration numbers and arrested 8 drivers and sent to the Assembly and they were asked to pay the Ghs 250 each on the basis that we were loading on an authorized place.”

Phillip Koranteng continues that, they have been resting at the park whenever patronage is low so they don’t know why they were arrested and fined Ghs 250 each because we were not loading but arresting rather.

“We want to know why they arrested us because we did not commit any offense.”

All effort made by Plan B FM to get the side of ASHMA MCE proved futile.
