According to reports, the incident happened in the early hours of the day when the heavily armed gang attacked a private gold dealership in the area. Witnesses said the robbers, wielding sophisticated weapons, stormed the premises and ordered workers and security guards to lie on the ground.

The criminals then forced their way into the vault, where large quantities of refined gold were being kept. Within minutes, they carted away the valuables, packed them into getaway vehicles, and sped off before additional security could intervene.

Police in the Western Region have since launched investigations into the heist and have mounted roadblocks across major exit routes in an attempt to intercept the suspects. Despite the swift response, the robbers are believed to have escaped with the loot.

Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost, although some employees sustained minor injuries while trying to flee the scene. The Ghana Police Service has appealed to the public to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The Mpohor gold robbery has sparked major concern about rising cases of organized crime targeting the gold sector, with industry players now calling for tighter security around mining communities and gold dealerships.

This incident is one of the largest gold robberies recorded in the country in recent times, raising serious questions about security lapses in gold-rich regions.
