Horror footage shows the moment a man attempted to kill his father’s alleged murderer during his trial by shooting at him six times before bashing him with the butt of his gun.
Surveillance video from inside the court room in São José do Belmonte, Brazil, shows the judges and jury members running for their lives after Cristiano Alves Terto, 27, opened fire.
In an attempt to gun down Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura, would-be killer Terto stands up at the back of the room and ominously reaches into his pocket.
He stalks past the jury while a woman grabs onto his arm in an apparent attempt to stop him.
But he pulls away from her grip and dashes down the side of the seating area before launching his attack on Moura.
Reaching over the table and pointing in the direction of his the man accused of murdering his father, Terto pulls the trigger but Moura manages to stumble back, and seemingly escapes the strike.
As he runs for shelter behind the magistrate’s desk and ducks for cover, furious Terto follows him while firing shots towards the unarmed man.
The jury members are seen fleeing the scene while Terto continues his rampage.
Moura then jumps across the table to hide behind a long desk but this doesn’t stop the gun-wielding man from carrying on his attack.
Terto raises his arm in the air and swings his weapon down onto where Moura is squatting in an attempt to bash him with the revolver.
He does it a second time and seemingly misses as in a fit of rage, he runs around the table before two people try to hold him back.
But to no avail – Terto can be seen in the corner of the footage breaking free before beginning to give Moura blows to the head with the butt of his gun.
The attack took place in November last year but the footage was only released on Tuesday.
Terto was arrested the day following the incident and the 38-caliber revolver used was also seized, according to the Pernambuco Military Police.
He was then sent to prison on remand on November 30.
Following the incident, Moura was dashed to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger facility in Serra Talhada for treatment for his injuries.
Reports on the incident conflicted between saying all shots fired by Terto were missed, and that Moura was hit by six bullets.
It is currently unconfirmed whether Moura was injured by any of the shots – but he has currently been discharged.
The attack comes after Moura had allegedly shot his Terto’s dad, Francisco Alves, on October 5, 2012.
According to his confession, he was looking for a donkey that had strayed from his property in Lagoa Alexandre.
When he found Alves on his farm, he asked him if he’d seen it, only for Alves to allegedly reply: ‘Get off my property, you filthy little thief.’
A blazing row erupted between the two, when Alves allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and walked towards him.
Moura then fired a gunshot into the air in a bid to scare him off, but Alves reportedly continued moving towards him.
He then fired a second shot into the ground as Alves continued drawing closer.
So he fired a third shot, which hit him in the abdomen.
Alves was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger facility in Arcoverde, where he died 18 days after the shooting.
Moura then fled to Salgueiro, where he was arrested.
