Security Analyst Lord Nana Appiah is calling on the leadership of the Ghana police to recruit qualified persons into the service.
He blamed the recent spate of indiscipline by some police officers in the country on the recruitment of unqualified persons into the Ghana Police Service.
Speaking on Plan B FM ‘Ebaanosen’ with Bohyeba Afriyie, He intimated that recruitment of police personnel has become political with some top government officials using the Police Service as a dumping ground for unqualified party faithful.
“Our police recruitment has an exclusive challenge, I agree with the public on the concerns raised with police recruitment in the country. In other Jurisdiction, because is a public trust institution in a very higher repute, before you will be accepted into the police service they will do a proper background check to know whether you have some standard of good behavior before you are picked. But that is not the case here”
“Politicians forced them down the throat of the Police Service with, undedicated and low- grade persons into the black uniform. In most cases these are the ones who do most damage to the reputation of the Police. I am a good advocacy for security and peace globally, so we need to make sure we set a certain standard devoid of any external influence from parents and people in authority and recruit qualified and professional police officers,” he indicated.
