Aggrieved distributors of Dangote Cement are calling on the Minister of Trade to conduct a thorough investigation into the dealings of Dangote Cement factory in Ghana over what they say is an attempt to defraud distributers and customers.
The aggrieved distributors want the Minister of trade to look into the operations of Dangote Cement and its distributers.
According to them, the current management of Dangote Cement factory have refused to make delivery of some goods they paid for some months ago.
“We have worked with Dangote Cement since its establishment in Ghana, however the management of the company are trying to defraud us with some decisions that is unpleasant and unacceptable”, they said.
“We made payment for some bags of cement in May, 2021, when it was time to deliver the bags of cement to us, the company told us they were facing some difficulties in acquiring the raw materials needed for the production of the cement”.
According to them, due to the aforementioned, the company went on a break without delivering to its distributors the bags of cement they paid for, nor their money.
“We just woke up one day and we heard that Dangote was back into full operation and distribution after it went on a break, so we also went to the managing director of the company to find out on when our goods will be delivered since we made payment before the firm went on a break”, they stressed.
“So, when we got to the managing director, he asked us to pay additional balance to the money paid already because, there have been an increase in the price of materials so the money we paid can’t purchase the quantity of cement bags we requested and paid for in May 2021”, they indicated further
The group indicted that; this has been the acts of management of the company to rip them off of their business start-up funds.
PLAN B FM upon hearing this decided to visit the company for a response from the managing director of Dangote Cement.
When PLAN B FM NEWS team arrived at the company, it was observed that, operations were going on as it was claimed by the distributors of the company.
The news team were denied entry into the managing directors office because according to some of the staff members, he was in a meeting.
As professionals, the team waited for about 2 hours, only for the managing director to come out and attain to a Chinese man who came to meet the news team at the door of the managing director.
After some hours, the news team together with some of the affected distributors were allowed entry into the office.
Management of the firm in the presence of the News team, requested for additional top up from the distributors before their cement will be delivered to them.
After some hours of deliberation, the managing director adjourned the meeting with the excuse of today been Friday.
The aggrieved distributors left the premises of the company with bitterness and disappointment, questioning their self as to why a foreigner would treat a citizen in such a manner.
“it’s only in Ghana this can happen, how can we be treated like this in our own country”, they fumed.
According to them this incident is a “tip of the iceberg” as there are more unpleasant operations in the company.
