Apostle Thomas Kusi Appiah, a renowned security analyst, leadership and relationship coach, and counsellor, popularly known as Counsellor General, has commended the Mahama-led administration for deepening security and peace in the country within its first 120 days in office.
According to him, the removal of former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akuffo Dampare, and his replacement with COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has revitalised the morale of the police service and contributed significantly to the improved security landscape.
In a recent interview with Odiamono Kwaku Gyimah on Plan B FM’s Nkɔsoɔnsɛm show, Apostle Appiah highlighted that Dr Dampare’s leadership style was detrimental to the police service.
“He used interdiction as a disciplinary tool against almost all who did not side with him for more than 90 days without substantial charges, which was against the law,” he stated.
Apostle Appiah’s comments come against the backdrop of Ghana’s ranking on the Global Peace Index, where the country is ranked 55th globally, and 4th in both Sub-Saharan Africa and Africa.
While acknowledging Ghana’s peaceful status, he cautioned against complacency.
“We should not allow our peace to be marred by politicians; instead, we should expand it based on the information available and work towards creating a more secure environment for all citizens,” he added.
Expressing optimism about Ghana’s future peace rankings, Apostle Appiah noted that with the current administration’s efforts, he sees Ghana taking a better position in the 2025 rankings. By taking a proactive approach to security, Ghana can build on its current peace and stability, and create a brighter future for its citizens.
