Former Ghana international and ex-Black Starlets captain, Sebastian Barnes, has accused Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku of frustrating his attempts to secure a coaching role within the national teams.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Weekend Sports Show with Dan K. Pobi Okocha, Barnes alleged that he has been denied the opportunity to serve despite holding a UEFA License B coaching certificate, which he believes is superior to the CAF License structure.
According to him, he was asked to return to Ghana and begin the CAF licensing pathway from License D, C, and upward, a directive he describes as unnecessary and discouraging.
Barnes argued that the requirement is a deliberate attempt to sideline him and other former footballers who are willing and qualified to contribute to the development of Ghana football.
He cited what he called persistent frustration in his efforts to serve on any of the national team technical benches.
The former youth captain maintained that experienced ex-players with internationally recognized qualifications should be supported rather than made to restart certification processes they have already surpassed
