Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman Alhaji Ali Braimah Raji has advised the newly constituted management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko led by Nana Yaw Amponsah to reconsider their decision to cancel signing-on fees at the club.
Nana Yaw Amponsah in a recent interview disclosed that, a new contract structure has been introduced in the club that absolves them from making such payments to newly recruited players.
Speaking to Tema based radio station, Plan B FM on the Ka Wadwen Sports Show, the renowned football administrator indicated he thought otherwise.
“If Kotoko wants to implement this no signing-on fee policy, I can assure you they won’t be able to sign a single player.”
“I am saying this because if a player decides to play for a team like Kotoko, it’s because of money not because of the love they have for the club.”
“This player signing on fee has been there since Malik Jabir’s time, so if Nana Yaw Amponsah wants to replace it with a new contract structure, then I don’t think they will get a single player to sign”, he opined.
“I don’t think Nana Yaw Amponsah is ready to manage the club if he decides to cancel the signing-on fee. You can’t just announce the signing of a player, you have to give him huge sums of money before he agrees to sign for you”, he concluded.
