Samuel Eto’o fined $200,000 by CAF Disciplinary Board

Samuel Eto’o fined $200,000 by CAF Disciplinary Board
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The CAF Disciplinary Board has handed down a verdict in the case of Samuel Eto’o, president of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT).

Eto’o was accused of match-fixing and breaching ethical principles.

After a thorough examination of the evidence, the board found insufficient proof to convict Eto’o and Valentin Nkwain of match manipulation.

However, Eto’o was found guilty of violating CAF’s ethical principles by becoming a brand ambassador for 1XBET and receiving payment.

This violation of Article 2, paragraph 3 of the CAF Statutes resulted in a fine of $200,000.

The decision highlights CAF’s commitment to upholding ethical standards in African football.

While Eto’o escaped more severe sanctions, the fine serves as a warning to football officials and stakeholders.
