In a shocking twist of betrayal and deception, Nana Okurofrobour Asumani Ababio II, the revered chief of Asante Akyem Agogo Hwediem, has vanished, leaving behind a trail of victims in a brazen visa fraud scheme.

The chief, known in his private life as Bismark Asumani, is now a wanted man, accused of orchestrating an elaborate scam that defrauded 28 unsuspecting individuals of over GHC207,500 (equivalent to $8,600 USD).

The fraud, which took place in June 2023 in the Ayawaso district near Pokuase in Accra, involved promises of securing visas to Canada, the USA, and Denmark for desperate clients.

Victims believed they were on the verge of new opportunities abroad, only to be swindled by a trusted leader who leveraged his position for personal gain.

Operating under his business, Royal Nakaa Ventures, Nana Okurofrobour Asumani Ababio II, alongside his accomplice Randy Asante Anderson, crafted an intricate web of deception.

There is also a video evidence of Randy Asante Anderson physically taking a brown envelope full of cash from one of the unsuspecting victims.

They collected the money through bank transfers and in-person meetings, sometimes at the victims’ homes in Ofankor Barrier or public spaces like West Hills Mall.

However, after receiving payments, the chief and his partner disappeared, cutting all lines of communication.

Nana Okurofrobour has reportedly abandoned his palace in Agogo, locked his social media profiles, and blocked all victim contacts, effectively vanishing without a trace.

Authorities are now scrambling to locate the culprits. The case has reached the Asofan District Court in Greater Accra, where the two men face charges of defrauding by false pretense, under Section 131 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
