A 65-year-old security guard, Kwabena Boateng, has been suffocated to death by suspected robbers at the De-Bridge One District One Factory (1D1F) facility in Gomoa Akotsi, Central Region.

The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, when Mr. Boateng tried to stop the gang from stealing two electricity transformers from the factory premises.

According to police sources, this was the second armed attack on the deceased. The robbers reportedly tied Mr. Boateng’s hands and legs with rope before covering his head with a polythene bag, causing him to suffocate to death.

Following the killing, the suspects dismantled two ECG transformers belonging to the De-Bridge IDIF company and fled the scene with some cables.

The attack has shocked residents and raised concerns about the security of factory facilities and workers in the region.
