“Upon arrival, the armed robbers ordered the officer at the counter to show them where the arms were kept. The officer initially directed them elsewhere, which angered them. She later led them to the right place, and the robbers took the guns away,” Chief Inspector Boakye told Adom News.

He added that a suspect in the police cells began calling out to the robbers for help.

“There was a suspect in the cells who pleaded with them to save him. The robbers shot the lock, freed him, and he escaped with them,” he explained.

After leaving the police station with the seized weapons and the freed suspect, the gang continued their operation in the town.

“They proceeded to a gold shop and took an unspecified amount of money. They also attacked a cocoa purchasing station, robbed the Asutifi Rural Bank, and assaulted a mobile money vendor, taking GH¢12,000,” Chief Inspector Boakye said.

He further revealed that the police later managed to rearrest the suspect who had been released during the attack.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohonu, has deployed additional officers to Nkaseim to assist in an intensive manhunt for the robbers.

Chief Inspector Boakye assured residents that police are working tirelessly to restore safety in the area.

“We want the community to remain calm. Investigations are ongoing, and we are doing everything possible to protect them and ensure the robbers are brought to justice,” he added.
