A security officer whose name is withheld has suggested that the method by which persons have been recruited and enlisted into the security forces in the country is worrying and that is leading to the recent attacks and killing of some security officers by civilians recently in the country.

Speaking on Plan B FM morning show NKOSUONSEM, the officer explained that, the systems that were in place for recruitment have been ignored and rather resorted to protocols from politicians and high-profile personalities in and “whom you know affairs” in all the recruitments into the forces.

“Sometimes past investigations and background checks will be conducted about the individuals been recruited to know their behaviors before passing out as officers but now due to political influence all these have been stopped”.

She then appealed to the highest authorities as a matter of urgency to look into the process of recruiting people into the security forces to restore hope and confidence in the forces.

Also, she advised her colleague officers to see themselves as part of civilians when executing their duties and show some respect to them(civilians)

” It is the uniform that makes you different from a civilian, also be mindful that you will retire someday, after retirement can you go back to them if have disrespected and treated them bad when you were in service, no? She questioned.
