Railway Ministry To Demolished All Structures Railway Lines -Deputy Minister

The Deputy Minister for Railways Development who doubles as MP for Asante Akim South Constituency, Hon.Kwaku Asante Boateng, visited some properties of the Ghana Railways Company limited located at Graphic Road-Accra, which was gutted by fire some months ago.

His visit was to have first-hand information on the situation on the grounds so he could also appreciate the level of encroachment that has taken place on properties of the Railway Company.

The Deputy Minister interacted with some staff and squatters of the company’s land. He explained that the land belongs to government of Ghana and his interest is to protect it for the interest of the State.

He further indicated that, after a discussion with his Minister, Hon. Peter Amewu, and the ministry will make it known to them the next line of action regarding encroachment of the lands.

Hon. Kwaku Asante Boateng directed the security Coordinator of the Railway Ministry and the Area manager of the Railway company to put notices on the illegal structures put up by private individuals on Railway company’s land and serve them letters to appear before the ministry with documents authorising them access to the land to put up their structures.

He indicated that, it’s about time bold steps are taken to retrieve properties belonging to the Railway Company and for that matter government of Ghana which has been encroached by private individuals.

He further advice the public to desist from accusing government when there is a demolition exercise.
