Put Nation First: Social Commentator Urges Authorities to Prioritise Duty Over Personal Ties

Put Nation First: Social Commentator Urges Authorities to Prioritise Duty Over Personal Ties
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A prominent social commentator, Matthew Kitcher, has issued a stark warning to authorities, cautioning them against allowing personal friendships to influence decision-making at the expense of national interests.

In a candid interview with Ohene Kinnah on Plan B FM’s popular afternoon show, “Ɛbaa No Sɛn”, Kitcher stressed that authorities must prioritise national interests over personal friendships. “Put nation first, don’t let friendships cloud duty,” he advised.

He stressed the importance of prioritising duty over personal relationships, emphasising that the nation’s needs should always come first. Kitcher cited numerous corruption cases in Ghana, including the ECG containers scandal and issues surrounding Ken Ofori-Atta, noting that politicians often exploit such cases to distract the masses.

Furthermore, Kitcher lent his support to calls for amending Article 88(5) of the Constitution, which would enable individuals with concrete evidence to bring corruption-related issues to court.

“This amendment would provide a crucial avenue for citizens to seek justice and hold public officials accountable,” he noted.
