Ewura Esi, Special Education Coordinator and a Public Health Advocate for Cerebral Palsy has called on the government and individuals to support children with cerebral palsy and their families.
Cerebral Palsy is a neurological disorder that affects movement and sometimes the speech of children.
she said raising a child with cerebral palsy in Ghana could be challenging because of the lack of a concrete policy to support children with cerebral palsy.
Speaking on Plan B FM ‘Apomuden Fie’ with Nana Konadu Okontie, She urged the government and individuals to come on board and help enhance the lives of families raising children with cerebral palsy by dialoguing with parents of such children to know areas where government could help.
“We need the government, corporate organizations and individuals to support children with cerebral palsy and their families.”
“Having a child with Cerebral Palsy is not a hopeless situation because with the right love and a supportive environment, the child can grow up to be a responsible adult,”
“It seems that many parents with children who are cerebral palsy do not know what is happening to their children, they are forced to believe that their children are suffering from spiritual attacks and therefore do not do much to help their children, ” she said.
