The suspects, identified as Prophet Emmanuel Nyame and three others—Samuel Ayi, Kwesi Danyo, and Anita Asiedu—allegedly conspired to harm a man during a heated altercation in a community near Ho.

The incident, which occurred on November 10, 2024, in the small town of Adaklu-Waya, sent shockwaves through the community.

According to the prosecution, Prophet Nyame, known for his charismatic ministry, had been involved in a longstanding dispute with the victim, whose name was withheld for security reasons.

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the prophet accused the victim of sabotaging his ministry and engaging in occult practices.

The prosecution told the court that Nyame enlisted the help of the three accomplices to confront the victim at his residence.

During the confrontation, the suspects allegedly attacked the victim with weapons, including machetes and clubs, leaving him severely injured.

The victim, who sustained multiple deep wounds, was rushed to the Ho Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. Doctors describe his condition as critical but stable.

The suspects were arrested following a police investigation triggered by a complaint from witnesses.

During their first appearance before the Ho District Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Stephen Agbevor, the prosecutor argued for the suspects to be remanded in custody, citing the gravity of the offense.

Defense counsel for the suspects, however, pleaded for bail, arguing that their clients posed no flight risk and would cooperate with ongoing investigations.

His Worship Agbevor, after deliberating, adjourned the case to December 8, 2024, to allow further investigations. He ordered the suspects to remain in police custody until the next hearing.

The case has sparked widespread public interest, with many residents of Adaklu-Waya expressing shock over the involvement of a religious leader in such a violent act. Several community leaders have called for calm as the judicial process unfolds.

The Volta Regional Police Command has assured the public that justice will be served and urged anyone with additional information to come forward to aid the investigation.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about violence and accountability in Ghana’s religious and communal disputes.
