Environmental Health Officers Beatrice Azimbe and Maa-Mary Baah from Tema Community 2 Sub-Office are urging the public to make good hygiene and environmental cleanliness a priority.
In an interview on Plan B FM’s social and lifestyle show ‘Nyansapɔ Fie’ with host Nana Asabea, Beatrice highlighted the numerous benefits of a healthy lifestyle in preventing diseases. “Our aim is to engage with you, not alienate you,” she said.
“We only refer persistent cases to the courts as a last resort, after repeated education and guidance.”
Maa-Mary Baah stressed the importance of proper sanitation facilities in homes, emphasising that “everyone must endeavour to build suitable places of convenience to avoid open defecation, which can lead to the spread of diseases.”
She also noted that “access roads to dumping sites are crucial to prevent illegal refuse dumping.”
Together, the Officers are encouraging the community to take ownership of their health and environment, and are committed to providing guidance and support to achieve this goal.
