The Presidency yesterday, January 19, 2020 released a statement announcing some acting appointments made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to his office as he starts his second term after the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections which saw him emerge as winner.
Persons announced in the press release which was dated January 19, 2020 and signed by acting Director of Communications, Office of the President, Eugene Arhin, are expected to undertake their duties in acting capacities, subject to consultation with the yet-to-be constituted Council of State.
The release contained some names of old appointees in the president’s first term who are retained. The same list also has some new faces who have been brought on board to help the Presidency with its day to day function.
The release announced that Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff in the president’s first term will still act in that capacity pending approval to continue same, Nana Bediatuo Asante, will still be Secretary to the President with Brigadier-General Emmanuel Okyere, National Security Advisor also holding to his job in his old portfolio.
A Personal Assistant to the President, Saratu Atta will also stay in that capacity. Another presidential staffer who also continue in his former role is, Lord Commey who will continue as Director of Operations at the Presidency.
The last of the persons who have retained their jobs is Mercy Debrah-Karikari who had been retained as Secretary to the Cabinet.
Announcing the new appointments, the release mentioned Dr. Isaac Owusu-Mensah who is expected to replace the late Victor Newman as Director of Research. Mr. Victor Newman passed on a couple of weeks ago.
Mr. Emmanuel Adumua-Bossman (aka Carlos von Brazi) and Fawaz Aliu, two of the new faces brought on board are expected to replace Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye as Deouty Chiefs of Staff.
Both Samuel Abu Jinapor and Francis Asenso-Boakye have been elected as Members of Parliament for Damongo Constituency and Bantama Constituency respectively.
The rest of the new appointments are Kow Essuman, Legal Counsel to the President; Michael Ofori-Atta, Director for ECOWAS and Regional Integration and Sam Ellis, Director of Personnel.
