President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in London for a high-level working visit aimed at strengthening economic relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, while also engaging the Ghanaian diaspora community.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency Communications Office on May 31, 2026, President Mahama’s visit will feature a royal audience with King Charles III and a breakfast meeting with British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Upon his arrival, the President was received by Lord Katz MBE of the Royal Household, Gordon Wetherell, Special Representative of the UK Foreign Secretary, and Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Sabah Zita Benson.

The visit is expected to deepen the long-standing bilateral relationship between Ghana and the UK, promote Ghana as a leading investment destination, and strengthen ties with Ghanaians living abroad.

As part of his itinerary, President Mahama will attend a diaspora town hall meeting hosted by the Ghana High Commission in London. He is also scheduled to open the Ghana-UK Investment Summit on Monday at Raffles, where discussions will focus on attracting foreign direct investment and fostering partnerships between Ghanaian entrepreneurs and British investors.

The President will further showcase Ghana’s growing role in global financial markets by ringing the opening bell at the London Stock Exchange. He is also expected to deliver an address at Chatham House and present a keynote speech at the 12th Africa Debate at the Guildhall in London.

President Mahama is expected to conclude his visit and return to Ghana on June 3, 2026.
