President Nana Akufo-Addo has withdrawn the appointment of Dr Osei Bonsu Dickson as the Deputy National Security Coordinator barely one week after he was elevated to that role.
The reasons for the U-turn are not immediately known, but a letter available to The Ghana Report confirms the latest development.
The letter, dated January 9, 2024, signed by the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, said, “Upon further consultation and in view of impending reforms within the National Security Establishment, the President has decided to withdraw your said appointment”.
Contrary to earlier claims, The Ghana Report sources familiar with the matter suggest that key figures at the Ministry of National Security rejected Dr Bonsu Dickson’s appointment.
He has served in different roles since joining the National Security in 2017.
